What makes a good song?

I good Hip Hop song is not just about having a hot beat, it is heavily surrounded around content, lyrics and style (flow). I have heard many of songs with blazin beats, but the lyrical content was... ????.... absolutely nothing, pure garbage. Those types of tracks don't last on the charts or last in minds of music lovers. A song that has good lyrical content and style stays in person's memory and makes a rememberance in the Hip Hop industry.

i think its about flow. like look at drake his flow is awesome nd his lyrics are good 2. but yea if your like talkin bout somethin dont even make sense it aint gunna last long

I'm not a big fan of Drake, but I can say he can write better than a lot of the other current southern rappers out there. He might not be able to freestyle, as we;'ve seen his embarrassing appearance on FunkMaster Flaex's radio show freestyle session...lol... (if you havent seen it, you shouyld YouTube... he was "freestyling" from reading off his Blackberry)... but anyway, even though the dude can't freestyle he can write... and as we both know that is what's important. People remember lyrics.
His flow is iight... but it's nothing to talk about... it doenst really have pizzaz.. at the end of the day, he knows how to stay on beat...lol, just like a lot of rappers. MC's like Nas and Jay-Z flows are unorthodox... their flow is weaved in and out of the track, as if it is a part of the beat. Their flow is another "instrument" per se playing in the track.... that's real.

I think what makes a good song is having an ACTUAL message. Not some bullshit like talking about your cars and money and all that.

And yeah flow is pretty important too
